We’re looking for a new Assistant Practice Operations Manager: Could it be you?

Are you looking for a fresh challenge where you can actively help people in their time of need? Are you people focused, empathetic, caring, organised, efficient, resilient, and committed? If so, we would love to hear from you.

Moss Healthcare Harrogate, is a long established, family focused General Practice providing NHS services to our 20,000 registered patients. We operate from 3 sites across town, the largest of which is on Kings Road in the heart of Harrogate. We have a staff team of around 60 people with 7 GP Partners and 4 Salaried GP’s.

The role of Assistant Practice Operations Manager has become available following an established colleague relocating to another part of the country. This has created space for someone to join our established management team to help lead our practice. Whilst previous experience in General Medical Practice would be desirable, it is not essential as full training and support will be provided by our established Operations Manager, however your ability to work with people and have the right attitude and approach to work is of paramount importance.

As the Assistant Practice Operations Manager, you would work with and support the established Operations Manager to ensure the smooth running of the Practice. Working closely with other managers, supervisors, team leaders and clinical staff to ensure that the practice runs effectively and efficiently for patients, GP Partners, and staff.

This could be an opportunity for someone from outside of the Health Sector, but with relevant skills and experience to establish themselves in a new career. Overtime, for the right candidate the role of Assistant Practice Operations Manager could evolve into Operations Manager Designate or other areas of Practice Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all issues that arise on a day-to-day basis, across all sites.
  • Manage Health & Safety and practice protocols/ procedures.
  • Oversee surgery timetables, duty rotas and holiday cover for staff.
  • Oversight and support of both the Administration and Reception teams working in conjunction with the relevant team leaders and supervisors.
  • Work with other agencies/ services such as Midwives, Physiotherapists, Social prescribers, and Yorkshire Health Network to ensure that they are set up, effective and supported in their work within the practice.
  • Work with suppliers such as the practices third party cleaning company and clinical waste contractor to ensure all requirements are met, audits completed, and compliance maintained.
  • Support the practices CQC lead (Care Quality Commission) & Safeguarding lead to maintain the required levels of compliance and documentation.
  • Support the Operations Manager in the handling and resolution of patient complaints.
  • Maintaining staff training records and leading the roll out of any new training identified in conjunction with the relevant team leaders/ supervisors.
  • Leading the practices Patient Participation Group (PPG) including regular attendance at PPG meetings (which may require occasional evening work).
  • Support the practice with implementation of new ways of working, as required.
